Baby goats are here!

Kidding season began today with Nellie delivering quads; 3 males & 1 female sired by Round Mountain MQ Kedar Quinn.

The female will be retained and we’re very excited to have a doe from this litter! The males will be offered to those who have reservations first, then posted for sale if still available. Please check back for availability or contact us to be placed on the wait list for these guys.

If you’re on the reservation list for a pet wether, you will be contacted once the babies are off to a good start. You will then have the opportunity to secure your reservation by placing a deposit on your goat. Find our current pricing on our sale policy page.

Since Nellie has quads, we would like to send at least two of the males off to their new homes as bottle babies if possible.

We don’t currently have any reservations for a buckling from this litter, but either of the two larger bucklings could go as breeding bucks. If you’re interested, now’s the time to speak up and get one reserved. *These may be the only bucklings we will offer as breeding bucks this year.

More about the birth

Nellie is a second freshener this year, and again delivered her babies unassisted and is loving them well.

Babies appear healthy and are nursing colostrum. One buck is smaller than the rest but is heathy so far. He is very cuddly and sweet.

Nellie has had fresh, warm molasses water and a dose of b complex oral gel vitamins. She’ll be getting pampered and offered plenty of quality feed and fresh water to keep the milk coming in for her quads.

Babies are being watched closely to be sure they’re getting their share of milk and thriving. The bucklings are more aggressive nursers and have taken more than their fair share, so we have separated them for a few hours today to let the doeling and smaller buck get more colostrum to fill their tummies. We’ll disbud around 3-7 days old.

Thanks for following along!

More kidding updates to come as the season progresses.

Happy spring,
