First Milk Test of 2023

We are getting a VERY late start on milk test this year, so the does are past their peak at almost 3 months in milk now.

Cloudy and Nellie are first fresheners, so I am not expecting big things from them this year. Flapper has work very hard raising her two bucklings who are very fat and healthy while Flapper has slimmed down considerably. Cloudy raised her triplets well and is very dairy looking and slender, but still making a considerable amount of milk for a first freshener. Nellie raised her triplets, and while they are doing great, it’s seems apparent she doesn’t quite have the volume I was hoping for, yet she has maintained her body condition better as a result. The differences between each doe and how they perform is so interesting! I love doing milk test because it gives me the information I need to make wise breeding decisions for herd improvement.

Kids are weaned, so I will be posting some for sale soon after we make sure they’re all doing good for a little longer post weaning. If you are not on the contact list, go ahead and send us a message to be added to have a better chance of buying a goat! We only have a few to let go.

Thanks for your interest in our goats!
